The Meaning Of: OM

If you have looked at my jewelry, you already know that I create pieces that have meaning and spirit. I thought it would be great to elaborate on the meaning of my favorite signs and symbols. Today, it is the Om symbol.

Om is not a word but rather an intonation, a mantra used in prayer. It is made up of three Sanskrit letters, aa, au and ma which, when combined together, make the sound Aum or Om.

According to Eastern philosophy, it is the sound  that was made when all of creation came into existence.

There is harmony, peace and bliss in this simple but deeply philosophical sound.  If repeated with the correct intonation, it can resonate throughout the body so that the sound penetrates to the centre of one's being, the atman or soul.

Wearing an ‘OM’ charm is said to bring  luck, harmony, and peace to those who wear it.  The Om sign helps to enhance the very essence of one’s life.
